Schwibbogen Moritzburg, electrically illuminated by Weigla- Günter Gläser from Deutschneudorf in the Erzgebirge
The traditional Schwibbogen Moritzburg represents the beautiful baroque castle Moritzburg. The roofs and trees are set off in color. This creates a beautiful 3D effect. The candle arch is made of plywood and is indirectly illuminated. The motif is on both sides ie.front-and flashback are the same.
Moritzburg Castle was built under Duke Moritz of Saxony as a hunting lodge in the years 1542 to 1546. It was one of the most impressive buildings of the early Baroque in Saxony.
The Baroque castle owes its present appearance, to the reconstruction under Elector Friedrich August I. The Elector is called in Saxony only August the Strong. Friedrich August I was Saxon Elector and King of Poland. August the Strong had the castle Moritzburg rebuilt according to the plans of Oberlandbaumeister Pöppelmann in the years 1723 to 1733. In the process, a representative hunting-and pleasure palace was created with the inclusion of the surrounding landscape.
Even today, you can admire the magnificent furniture and paintings in the museum rooms.
Moritzburg Castle is also known from the fairy tale film from 1973, entitled Three Hazelnuts for Cinderella.
